Our Activity Classes
Glasgow West Heartbeats is a class run by trained physios for anyone who feels they could benefit from some light exercise.
Set up over 35 years ago for those suffering from cardiac issues, it is open to anyone who would like to keep up or increase their fitness level.
We have two different classes on offer:
Classes take place online, using Zoom, every Wednesday from 6.30pm – 7.30pm.
Each session involves aerobic exercise plus some strength and balance work. Newcomers are asked to speak to the physiotherapist prior to their first class and are sent registration forms and detailed information about the classes.
Members pay a monthly subscription of £10. (payment details will be sent to new members when they register).
The Killermont class (face-to-face)
The Killermont class is a structured exercise class for adults to participate in. The classes are led by qualified physiotherapists or a student physiotherapist who is a qualified exercise leader.
We have a defibrillator to use if required, and all physiotherapists are trained to use it. A committee successfully looks after the running of the class.
It is a good, fun class many people have attended for years. We hope that you feel that you would like to come along and join us. You are welcome to come and join in for a class to see if you would like to continue participating.
Times of class
Monday 7pm til 8pm
Saturday 9am to 10am
Killermont Parish Church Hall.
New participants are to arrive 15mins before class starts.

Socialising with Glasgow West Heartbeats
Apart from the benefits of regular exercise, the group, which is run by committee, have introduced periodic ‘social’ extensions to the exercise classes and plans to hold occasional fundraising events of a social nature.
There is also an informal walking group which meets on Tuesday afternoons for a relaxed walk and coffee.
Glasgow West Heartbeats is affiliated with Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland.
The activities are designed to place a gradually increasing workload on the body and the rate of progression is regulated by ‘how I feel’. All exercise programmes include a warm up and cool down period.
